Ashley Ethos & Values

At Ashley Infant school, our ethos is ’We Learn, Grow & Achieve’.

We are passionate in our absolute belief that every child can and will learn in a supportive, inclusive and inspiring environment. Our expectation is that every child will make progress, embrace the challenge of learning and ‘learn without limits’.

Our curriculum is highly motivating, engaging and recognises that learning is not just about the National Curriculum, but is every opportunity for discovery and achievement. We are confident that we have designed a curriculum that engages the interests, minds and actions of our pupils, whilst preparing them for the learning journey ahead.

Our school values of CHARM underpin our entire curriculum. Ashley children leave with:

Confidence

Ultimately, as adults, we need self-belief and the ability to trust ourselves in a variety of situations. Confidence grows as children become independent, from the early days of hanging up their own coats, progressing to organising their own learning.

Confidence is developed through

  • Independence
  • Willingness to ‘have a go’
  • Embracing challenge

Happiness

We know that happiness and well-being are essential for successful life-long learning. Happy children are at the heart of our school family.

Happiness is developed through

  • Feeling safe and secure in school
  • Knowing your own strengths
  • Learning being an enjoyable process

Achievement

A sense of achievement is vital for wellbeing. Achievement at Ashley Is not limited to academic attainment, it is embracing every opportunity to learn and grow.

Achievement is developed through:

  • Trying your best
  • Making link in learning
  • Knowing your next steps

Respect

A cohesive and productive society is built on mutual respect and tolerance. Our school community lays the foundation blocks for this, ensuring children and adults demonstrate due regard for the feelings and rights of others.

Respect is developed through:

  • Having good manners
  • Having empathy for others
  • Listening to one another and taking turns

Motivation

In order to achieve anything, we need to be motivated. At Ashley all experiences are purposeful and children have a reason for wanting to succeed.

Motivation is developed through:

  • Encouragement of perseverance
  • Learning to manage distractions
  • Becoming resilient

Our highly inclusive school aims to develop the whole child and recognises that children need the opportunity to achieve in many different ways. We recognise that every child is unique and not every child will follow the same path to success. This is what makes our learning journey so exciting!

We strongly believe that effective learning develops from a partnership between school and parents. We provide many opportunities for parents to engage in school life and participate in workshops to enhance their understanding of teaching and learning methods used in school.

Our school is always moving forward and the opportunities we offer our staff to work with other highly skilled and creative schools, individuals and research, ensures we are always at the forefront of educational excellence. We regularly welcome professional colleagues into our school to share our good practice.
